Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she’s gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She’s the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits…But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.
The other nannies in this city don’t call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.
I can’t risk my job for a chance at something more…can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either…
You know that feeling when you finish a book and you can’t help the smile that’s tugging your lips because you’ve just finished an insanely sweet story? That feeling when you feel so light, warm all over and wishing there’s more? Lauren Blakely got that feelings down pat with The Sexy One.
From the first few pages alone, I liked Abby already. I fell instantly in love with her character. She’s driven, strong, loves taking care of Hayden (Simon’s daughter) and she’s been fighting off her attraction to her boss. Not that I can blame her. Simon Travers is one hell of a guy. He’s a single dad to a very adorable kid, loyal, good in business and loves his daughter to his core.
Simon’s relationship and interaction with his little girl was very natural; I felt all the fatherly devotion and his initiative to balance work and family. Abby was really good with Hayden, too. She knew what tickled the kid and I loved her even more for that. To top it all off, she’s amazing at speaking different languages!
And while Abby and Simon tried so hard to resist the palpable chemistry between them, it was very nice to see them professionally. There was her teaching him another foreign language because he needed it to seal a business deal. There was him teaching her how to play pool and him doing braids to her hair. I swear, I melted each time there’s interaction between them and the next ones were even better than the other! I liked that Lauren revealed that side of their relationship without jumping right away to the other relationship. The story was fast-paced but it flowed organically and it meshed nicely with Lauren’s easy writing and her talent to fire up the pages, their crazy banter and the romantic elements that made me swoon so hard.
My only complain was it’s short! I wished it had more! But overall, I am a very happy LB fan because The Sexy One is a light and deliciously romantic story you should not miss! And who can resist a double epilogue? Huh, definitely not me!
Move over, Nate Harper*, Simon Travers has officially stolen your space in my heart.

I can’t help but hear Colbie Caillat’s Bubbly while reading the book!
