BARRETT LANDRY has it all.
Power, prestige, and plenty of women, the dapper politician’s life is pretty phenomenal. But in the midst of the biggest campaign of his life, he needs to focus. The last thing he can afford is a distraction.
ALISON BAKER is a work-in-progress.
As a single mother to HUXLEY, she’s rebuilding life on her terms. She’s focused on family, faith, and a future for her son that can’t be taken away. Putting her child first means not being careless, no matter what.
A chance encounter forces Barrett and Alison to redefine what they really want out of life. But everything comes at a cost … and sometimes, even for love, it’s a price too steep to pay.
OH MY GAAAAAADDD!!! Sway is so. Freakishly. Awesome!!! MUST REAAAAD!!!! Seriously, I feel like I missed a lot for not reading any Adriana Locke books! SHAME ON ME UGH. But good thing, it’s Barrett Landry that popped my Adriana Locke cherry. Or wait… was it grapes?! He popped my AL grapes?! Because after reading this book, I’m pretty sure I will never think about grapes the same way anymore. And THAT is a good thing. Haha! BUY IT. BUY IT. BUY IIIIIITTTT!!!
Mayor Barrett Landry has it all. Literally. Wealth, power, looks, women. All the things. It’s like when God showered blessings all over mankind, he built a huge basin for it and he kept it. For himself. Alone. But one look at the server in the event he’s having catered who didn’t seem to go gaga over him like every woman in the room kind of challenged him. And a fun challenge she was. Only, he didn’t expect it’d go something more than that.
Alison Baker knew Mayor Barrett Landry was some kind of a god. What with that gorgeous face, charm, literally everything. She also knew she’s attracted to him and she’s smart not to make the same mistake again. Plus, she’s got a kid that she loved with every inch of her life. But things got amazing then complicated and everything she’s started to build after what happened with her life began to play like a deja vu right before her very eyes.
Let me begin by telling you it wasn’t an easy read for me. In the book, it’s freaking campaign period where Mayor Barrett Landry was running for a gubernatorial post. And the man knows his assets too well. What made me stupidly bite my fingernail off every time there’s a girl involved other than Ali was the fact that he had women everywhere. Like.. everywhere. As in he fucked them all. Though I couldn’t see why not with him being tagged as the Most Eligible Bachelor in town. I guess, that freaked me out a bit but I’m grateful Adriana didn’t mention those explicitly or this wouldn’t be here.
Sway promises a strong start of a great series by Adriana because not only it did punch me in the gut many times but I also found myself laughing, swooning, cheering for and with every unique character in the story. The scenes flowed flawlessly with its slow but steady and comforting pace, build-up so intense! Not to mention ALL THE HOT SCENES. My. Goodness. I’m ready to #GetGraped or get #LaidbyLandry! Either works. Haha! And with great characters to boot, I really had so much fun!
Let’s take Barrett Landry for instance. This one was definitely a Class A a-hole for a Mayor, pre-Alison Baker. I mean who could fault him really? Didn’t mean I have to like him right away. Because really, I didn’t. He’s a d-bag. But when it came to the seriousness of it all, his responsibilities, his heart, his love to serve people, to do what he thinks is best for them—he’s a true gem. And I loved that he’s got a soft spot even when he’s cocky as hell. He’s a good man when he chose to be and this is me totally defending him. Haha! Just don’t mention any of his past, okay?
Alison Baker, on the other hand, was an epitome of sassy, fun and smart woman. She’s a strong woman who wanted what’s best for her kid and what mother wouldn’t, right? She also worked two jobs because of what happened in the past but she’s trying to get past all the hurt and trying to move on. But it wasn’t easy especially when Barrett suddenly had eyes for her. She knew the real score though, so why bother?
But Barrett and Alison together? Getting to know each other? With carefully taken steps? !@#$%^&*() IT IS THE BEST! Every thing between them just flowed naturally, taking its beautiful, slow, explosive course. I might just die over there because of feels-plosion.
Then there’s the Landry brothers, Graham, Ford and Lincoln (Barrett’s the eldest, by the way). OHMYGOSH those bundle of beautiful genes—I didn’t stand a chance! They were a mix of unique characters that I loved each of them already even when I haven’t read their books yet. (I so will!)
And of course, Ali’s kid, Hux. Seriously if there’s a competition for the Most Awesome Kiddies in the Books You’ve Read, I’d totally nominate him. He loves baseball, is bright for a kid his age and overall an adorable boy who loves his mom so much.
The book is nothing but a pure delight to read! I. LOOOOOVE. EVERYTHING!!! It’s exciting, suspenseful in a way because elections, heartwarming and so perfect. I loved the way Adriana combined every meaningful thing I like very much in the books I read—excellent romance, witty banter, family, intelligence, feelings, so. Much. Feelings. And a lot of sex. But really, remove the last part and it’d still be good. It’s just that you know how it is with strong relationships—it’s a progress. And a very hot one at that. No kidding! Add in the election pressure, kissing others’ asses, mingling with senseless people, campaign talks and all that crazy and we’re gearing up for another best read this year!
By the end of the book—hell, middle I think?—Mayor Barrett Landry has already won my vote! (And maybe not just mine.) For nearly everything that matters. And Adriana just locked down a new fan in me.
