The first in an emotion-fueled, New Adult series from the #1 bestselling author of the Thoughtless novels!

Too fast, too furious—and way too hot to handle…

For Mackenzie Cox, racing motorcycles is in her blood. Born into a family legacy, she’s determined to stand out her rookie year. But her family rival’s newest racing prodigy–the exceedingly arrogant, outrageously attractive Hayden Hayes–keeps distracting her. The stakes are high and her family’s future is on the line. Kenzie needs a win, and she also needs to stay away from Hayden. Unfortunately for her though, one thing has become all too clear: she can’t. Fueled by passion, driven by desire, Hayden and Mackenzie both want to win more than anything else. Except for, maybe, each other. But anger, jealousy and extreme competitiveness aren’t their only obstacles…

When I first saw this book I got excited. It’s been a while since I read anything from S.C Stephens and it’s about racing? Where do I sign up??

Born into the racing world, Mackenzie Cox was ready to take a male driven world. As a daughter of a legendary racer, the pressure’s on her—not only to do well as a rookie, but also to help save her father’s racing business. But things started to get complicated.

Hayden Hayes was so familiar with the world of motorcycle racing. He was undefeated in street racing. As a new racer of Cox’s rival team, he was expected to win. But rumors started to spread, linking him to unexplained accidents in the racing tracks. He was starting  to become the dark horse.

As the story unfolded Mackenzie realized that she needed Hayden’s help to save her father’s company. She got sucked into the world that could jeopardize her career. With everything that’s happening in the racing world, and her developing feelings towards Hayden, she started telling lies to her friends and family. But she was willing to do anything just to be able to help.

I have to be honest. Explaining my thoughts about this book became rather difficult. I’ve always been a fan of S.C Stephens.  But unfortunately, I didn’t like this one as much as I wanted to. There were parts that I loved, at the same time there were those that felt dragging to me. Don’t get me wrong, the story line was great but it felt like there’s something lacking. It’s like riding a roller coaster sans the adrenaline rush. It reminded me of Romeo and Juliet and found that everything was all in the story – two rival teams, the rules, the forbidden love.

I also found Mackenzie to be a tad bitchy but for me her actions were understandable. If it were me under that same level of stress, I would be acting the same way. The secondary characters turned out to be a bit childish for me too. The only character that I really loved was Hayden. A character that’s misunderstood but caring and passionate.

The other thing that I had issues with was the ending. It left me with a big “what the fuck” but thankfully, it didn’t end with a cliffhanger. It just ended like it wasn’t supposed to end yet. Will there be a second book or that was it already? I’m sorry but I really didn’t like the incomplete feeling. Please don’t get discouraged by my review though, maybe it just didn’t work for me. To each their own, right? Like I said, it has a great story line but it just didn’t fit the bill for me. Maybe I just had high expectations because it’s from the same author that I adored and will still continue to adore.
