The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.
I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.
He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.

Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.
Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.

Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.
Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.
I was swindled out of ten grand.

The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.
I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.
I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.

The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages.
The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.
And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

Drew Jagger emanated that pervy vibe, with mortal qualities but still charming. He being the serial optimist was not overplayed instead Vi Keeland emphasized his zest for those closest to is heart. He is panty melting yes, but you’ll be SURPRISED because he is one heart melting lawyer to boot.

Yes to female characters eventually becoming front runners in the relationship! Emerie was this rocket of a woman – sassy, smart, sweet and sometimes awkward but very adorable.

Villains bringing out the best and not the worst out of the major characters. I hated Alexa and Baldwin and I wanted to bury them to the ground. I didn’t easily understand that at some point they owned Drew’s and Emerie’s balls BUT I would say that they definitely spiced up the story. Vi, didn’t second guess these secondary characters. They were all out, bring it, let’s stir up the romance!

The shifting from emotion filled to suddenly sexually filled scenes felt easy and not forced.

Well thought out and flawlessly sewn characterization. D and E’s occupations, their pasts, their family backgrounds intermingled. Initially, their contrasting personalities became the foreplay but Vi SMOOTHLY transitioned their undeniable similarities and connection. And more what’s inside of them and not just the usual – sexy, hot, same old power couple. MCs chemistry was instantaneous.

Just the right length of back stories. Not too long, not too overwhelming. I wasn’t fully invested with Drew’s past thus made his growing feelings towards Emerie more believable.

The duo that is Drew and Roman was entertaining and fresh! Roman, you are the perfect wingman!

The masochist in me wanted to see Drew sweat his ass some more during his major conflict with Em. Reconciliation felt a bit rushed. Extending the “burn” could have made the story just a little bit more bittersweet. Other than that, the epilogue was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!!
