REVIEW: Jockblocked by Jen Frederick

Jockblocked is entertaining, heartwarming, heat-induced with so very charming characters!

It’s my first time to read a book by this author and I regret that I didn’t get to read the first book in this series, Sacked. But I’m making sure to add it in my TBR because the way this second book was crafted? All kinds of amusing! It’s a breathe of fresh air since a lot of books out there are really dark and most are drama-heavy. But this one was totes cute and even adorable. That is if we erase a certain Ace on the equation. He’s a d-bag. I don’t like him. He’s Luce’s best friend, by the way.

She’s always played it safe…

College junior Lucy Washington abides by one rule—avoid risk at all costs. She’s cautious in every aspect of her life, from her health, to her mock trial team, to the boring guys she dates. When a brash, gorgeous jock walks into the campus coffeeshop and turns his flirt on, Lucy is stunned by the force of attraction. For the first time ever, she’s willing to step out of her comfort zone, but can she really trust the guy who’s determined to sweep her off her feet?

He’s always played around…

Entering his last year of college eligibility, linebacker Matthew “Matty” Iverson has the team captaincy in his sights. And it’s his for the taking, if he can convince his quarterback Ace Anderson to give up the starting position. Luckily, Matty already has an edge—the hottie he’s lusting over just happens to be Ace’s childhood best friend. Getting Lucy on his side and in his bed? Hell yeah. Matty is more than confident he can have both, but when he falls hard for Lucy, it’s time for a new game plan: convince the woman of his dreams that she’s not sleeping with the enemy.

Jockblocked is about hot linebacker Matthew “Matty” Iverson, also a full-time player, who seems to be so fascinated with lawyer-to-be Lucy Watson. He kind of has a thing for her but when his evil Coach turned out to be a dickhead that he was and it involved hurting his teammate’s feelings and also Lucy’s, he had to plan his game plan well or he’d lose the only girl whose kiss didn’t even compare to any of the girls he’d kissed before.

Lucy Watson is master at risk assessment. Every decision in her life had to be analyzed carefully or everything will come down crumbling in a blink of an eye. But when a Matty Iverson came strutting to her life like a hurricane ready to wipe away all her defenses, she was left to a choice of whether Matty was going to be well worth the risk or not.

SO! Matty and Lucy! Aww man these two were really meant to be for each other! They were flirty, fun and so fluffing cute I want to squeeze them together! Of course at first, they were both very awkward but it got better along the way and I liked the way that their friendship/relationship progressed slowly but surely. Huh, that’s so very Lucy! And Matty, hoooboooy he’s melting my heart with his little caring ways! But not only with Luce but also with his teammates. That is, if he’s not busy being an a-hole. Which, to be honest, was not all the time—to give Matty some credit. Haha!

Overall, I liked Jockblocked because it managed to whip the right concoction of light, perfectly-paced and fun yet so sexy and hot story between seemingly too different, yet just the same, dynamic, adorable characters. I loved that it wasn’t instalove, instalust, insta-everything. I loved that it began with a near-friendly encounter and from there grew a love rooted from taking risks, giving chances, and developed personalities.
