I’m a firm believer of timing. Right timing. I remember joining a journalism contest in elementary. Division Schools Press Conference. I remember slacking off when it’s time to read and review because it’s not something I wanted to do. I could write but not that way. And so you know how it ended—I lost. I couldn’t care less. Because I didn’t spend a lot of time studying and my heart was clearly not on it. But getting an ARC of one of my most anticipated books this year? I couldn’t remember a time not wanting it. I even prayed for it! Because we’re talking about Emma Chase. The Emma Chase. And I love Emma Chase so much that when she finally visits the Philippines, I’d be the first one to be at the airport to welcome her. Yeah, that level of stalking. I hope she’s ready. Haha! I also happen to love her lawyer series, The Legal Briefs, which is a freaking dream! So when I saw the email containing the ARC of this final book in the said series, I almost died. I mean my phone almost died because I was holding it and almost slipped from my hand, not me. Then there were tears and hurried response to the greatest Secret Santa I’ve ever met and hugs to my Kindle because once again—DREAM. COME. TRUE! Then another wave of tears. I couldn’t believe it! I think it was almost Christmas time when I requested a copy and everyone’s feeling generous… So yeah, right timing was so spot on. I’m very grateful for rare opportunities like this because this doesn’t happen every time. It’s not everyday that I get I want. It’s not everyday that I get to read a book from my favorite author before it releases to the world. It’s not everyday that my wishes get granted. So I hold on to another belief that everything happens for a reason. And what Miss USA 2015 said when she was interviewed after losing the Miss Universe crown to Miss Philippines. It goes like this:
“Sometimes, it’s just not for us. The job, the interview, the man, or, in this case, the crown…sometimes, it’s just for someone else. Not because they are better, more qualified, prettier, nicer, superior to us, but because it is their opportunity, not ours.
And that’s okay, because our opportunities – our job, our interview, the man of our dreams – are not for them either. They’re ours. And they’re often right on the other side of rejection.”
I hold on to these words hard because it’s fitting. It absolutely makes sense. You know what else I hold on to when I get rejected? It’s not the end of the world. And when I don’t get access to the ARC I wanted? I just think that nothing beats the legit stuff. The one that I’d buy even when I read an advanced copy or not. And just in case we haven’t established yet that Emma Chase in under my I Auto-Buy Books From These Authors list, I have pre-ordered my copy and I am so excited for it to land on my Kindle! There! Doesn’t matter if it’s beyond my price point for eBooks!
Appealed gets the freaking gold in this beautiful, funny, heart-warming, so freaking sexy and hot, second chance, friends-to-lovers, childhood sweethearts romance wrapped in a pretty red bow that is Emma Chase signature male POV.

The New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled books returns with the third romance in the Legal Briefs series, a collection of sexy novels about first crushes, second chances, and the final verdict of the heart.
When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate—and prized—parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Louboutins.
When Kennedy looks at Brent, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue–worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school in order to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell for her.
But she’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore—she’s a Washington, DC, prosecutor with a long winning streak. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case, and Kennedy thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.
But things aren’t exactly working out the way she planned. Brent has his sights set on Kennedy, and every fiery exchange only makes him want her more—and makes her wonder if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. In the end, they may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.
So… Appealed. Aaaaahhhhh OMG I love this book so hard! *wipes tears* I could definitely tell now that it’s one of my top reads this year! And 2016 has only just begun! You’ll know what I mean when you read it. Don’t skip the Acknowledgments because you should know by now that when that page alone made your eyes water, the deal has been sealed. You should proceed with caution. Haha! Make sure you pack tissues, too!
Appealed is when filthy rich lawyer Brent Mason gets a reality check in the balls in the face of his childhood friend Kennedy Randolf. Growing up, both of their mothers had already pairing them up because that’s just how it is with modern royal family. But it wasn’t an easy feat because they were both still young and crazy. Being young and at that age makes one practically an idiot because of his choices. That’s pretty much Brent if you’d ask me. And him seeing Kennedy—the stunning, gorgeous, confident Kennedy—made him swallow his own tongue. But not just because of her perfection but also because he found out that Kennedy is the ruthless prosecutor whose feet he has to kiss to make a plea deal for his client’s sake. And maybe for his own as well because once upon a time they had feelings for each other and that’s enough for Brent to get his gear ready for the trial of his life. Did I mention Brent’s relent-to-the-freaking-less? Yep.
Brent Mason is the pride of mankind. He’s brilliant, funny, great in the courtroom, even greater in the bedroom, royally wealthy. He’s also dependent to his butler Harrison because the dickhead doesn’t even know how to turn the freaking stove on. And now I’m thinking if I should retract the brilliant. Haha! The guy has also some issues because of an accident that made him lose his limb so a visit to the therapist is something on his to-do list every now and then. But he’s not even sorry about it. In fact, I think that made him a bigger man because he works on his issues with a therapist. Not any man could do that.
And there was Kennedy Randolph who put a Brent Mason to shame. Hot, badass prosecutor, totally amazing woman with a heart of gold. My kind of woman.
Brent and Kennedy’s journey to love though it was so freaking beautiful was unexpected because of the doubts that loomed over their heads. It was one step forward, two steps backward kind of love at first but that just made Appealed even greater. Because you don’t get to fall in love with someone you hate for a long time that instant, right? All the effort that Brent exerted though to win Kennedy? Very admirable. I couldn’t ask for a better character that would do it the way it should be done other than Brent Mason. Oh look, a Top BBF medal for Brent!
I was thinking how Emma could pull off this kind of plot where there’s so much hate from the LI because of what happened to them in the past. But you know how it is with Emma: sexually-charged chemistry and charm in one? You’ll never get it anywhere but here! Appealed also boasted that fairy tale, suspense, romantic vibes that made it interestingly awesome! And perfect! I couldn’t help but just to sigh because of its perfection.
Appealed nailed every thing. Every. Thing! Outstanding male POV—only The Emma Chase could whip because that’s her dominion—check! Romance at its finest—check! Pair it all up with wit, scorching hot scenes, highschool love that didn’t wither, uncertainty—check, check, check! And the best part? The series was wrapped stunningly it made my heart ache because I had to say good bye to yet another unforgettable group of men and women (and children) who brought me to tears. Why do you have to leave me? Why?!
Emma Chase in Appealed just solidified that stark reality that she owns the Male POV Kingdom and that she’s consistent to deliver laugh out loud, tear-inducing stories, with top of the line main characters and love interests that will surely tug at your heartstrings and leave you wanting for more. It’s absolutely crazy; I couldn’t believe she could do it! Either she really loves what she does and that shows in her books or she’s a freaking witch and this is all just sorcery. I’m aiming for the former.
