Book Review: American Prince by Sierra Simone

Series: American Queen Trilogy #2
Rating: 4.5 / 5

I’ve been many things.

I’ve been a son and a stepbrother. An Army captain and a Vice President.

But only with Him am I a prince. His little prince.

Only with Maxen and Greer does my world make sense, only between them can I find peace from the demons that haunt me. But men like me aren’t made to be happy. We don’t deserve it. And I should have known a love as sharp as ours could cut both ways.

My name is Embry Moore and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States…for now.

This is the story of an American Prince.

That last line! That incredibly drawn out revelation at the end! That final twist that I never would have predicted even in my wildest dreams.

I really thought I was in for a comfortable ride because I must admit the back stories felt a little bit leisurely for me. In American Queen, Sierra Simone has beautifully established the story line and we also got glimpses of how Embry and Ash’s love developed. Now in book two, we get it more detailed and bundled up with Embry’s emotional and arousing point of view. Please note, I loved him immensely in this book. The only hiccup was the earlier parts were already expected.

I really thought the pacing will be easy all through out. But then holy shit, the last chapter of this book! My body’s reaction was a mammoth intake of breath anchored by “where the hell did that come from”. I really don’t know how the story will play out from here on. That’s the beauty of Sierra’s talent you will never know where in the wild she will drop you. Her sultry twists and thickly layered plot, her purposeful words, the bizarre and intriguing personalities she fashioned has made this story and series a masterpiece.

Embry Moore, I am in awe of you. The word sacrifice was more meaningful because of you and your brave heart. Greer, tell me you are not slipping away. I need you to fuckin own this triad. Your graceful strength is vital to this love story so please hang on woman. And lastly Ash, my final words are for you – fix this, mend my bleeding heart and thread my loose ends. I am counting on you.
